History:
Bucyrus Area Youth Soccer was founded in 1998 as a traveling team.  In the fall of 2006 then President Dave Koepke changed the playing format from a traveling team to an inter-league playing format.  In 2006 the club started with approx 70 players.   In the Fall 2011, BAY soccer has grown to over 300 players divided among 28 league teams and 2 traveling teams.

Seasons and Time of Games: 
Our year begins in late summer with a summer camp followed by the start of the fall season.  The fall season begins in early September and runs through the first week of November.  In the fall season, games are on Saturdays with practices during the week.  Games are played generally on Saturdays in the afternoons and evenings. 
The spring season begins in early April and runs through mid May.  In the spring season, there are two games a week.  One day weekday game and one Saturday game both in the afternoon/evenings.

Practice Times:
Practice times vary by age group and are determined by the team's coaches.
u-7 players will generally practice for an hour once per week when there is only one game that week.  If there are two games in a week (such as late fall or spring season), teams will generally not have practice.  Preseason there are generally two practices a week.

u-9 players will generally practice twice per week for about an hour. If there are two games in a week they will likely only practice once per week.
u-12/u-14/u-18 players generally practice two days a week when there is one game in the week.  Practices range from 1 hour to 1 1/2 hours depending on age group.  If there is two games in one week most teams will only practice once. 
Practice days and times are determined by the coach of each team and vary.  These are information guidelines not set rules.

Four year olds will be eligible to play provided that their 5th birthday comes sometime with in the current season they are signing up for. 

"under" in each division is defined as a players age as of August 01 that year.   Example:  if a player is 8 years old on August 01 he would play in the under 9 division.  This applies to fall and spring season

Players may be asked move up if they are within one year of the minimum age of their age group and they are determined by their coach and the Directors to be able to play in the next age group.  Players must be within one year of a division's minimum age to move up.  Example :  a player must be 11 years old if they wish to move up to under 14 division.

As a general rule the Board of Directors will keep siblings together on the same team when age qualifications allow.  The Board of Directors reserves the right to place players where needed.  The Board makes an attempt to keep teams competitive by placement of players.


What Is the Cost?
The registration fee for a year (fall and spring) is $25. 
The fee for spring only is $15.  (as of spring 2012)
The price includes a uniform shirt and 8 to 10 games in the fall and 8 to 10 games in the spring.  Practice balls and cones are provided for the players.

What do I need to supply for my child?
Players will need to supply their own soccer cleats (cannot be metel studs and cannot have a toe stud).  Players must also provide shin guards, soccer socks (long tube socks) and black shorts or black sweats in cold weather. 
These are commonly available at sporting goods stores and dept. stores.
